First, you will need to download the Solaris ISO and Oracle virtualbox software.
Start Installation Process
Open the virtualbox software and click on new.
After select the new button, enter the name of VM into the field. Verify that the Type is Solaris, and the version is 11, 64 bit. Then click next.
We will now set the memory of the virtual machine.
We will be creating new virtual Hard disk for the solaris 11.
Click create virtual Hard Disk file type for the solaris 11.
Select dynamically allocated. A fixed size hard disk file may take longer to create on some system but is often faster to use. Click next.
Name the HDD file we are going to create and choose the path to store the hard disk file. I will be allocate the size of hard disk as 20 GB. Click on create.
We are almost done with all the settings. To add the ISO, make sure the new virtual machine is selected, and then select settings.
Then from the storage settings. Now we will add a new ISO file.
Select OK to start the server. Now we will boot the OS and run the solaris installer.
Select the default US-English keyboard layout and press enter.
To select default keyboard layout.
Select the option 1 to install the Oracle solaris 11.
Now appears the Welcome screen of solaris 11. On this screen press F2 to continue.
Select discovery method for disks.
Where should Oracle Solaris be installed?. Press F2 to continue.
GPT Partitions we will select use the entire disk and press F2 to continue.
Enter a name for this server that identifies it on the network.
Select a wired network connecttion to configure.
Select DHCP network interface should be configured.
Select the region that contains your time zone and location.
Select the default language support and locale specific date format and language territory.
Edit the date and time as necessary.
Select your keyboard. Define a root password for the system and user account for yourself.
Esc Support Registration paert. Press F2 to continue.
Once the installation is complete we need to reboot the OS.
Do remember to remove the ISO image from the virtual machine or else the installation would start again.
